HAWC2 model

You may download the following models to get inspiration of how to model wind turbines in HAWC2. The listed models are downloaded as a zip-file. It contains only the necessary files and folders and should be unzipped in the main directory, where the HAWC2 executable is located. Click on the version number to check compatibility with different versions of HAWC2.

DTU 30-MW Tri-Rotor Wind Turbine

The 30MW Tri-Rotor WT model is based on the RNA of the DTU 10-MW reference wind turbine.  The aim of this fictitious model is to demonstrate the Multi-rotor design-analysis capabilities of HAWC2 code. No detailed aeroelastic analysis has been performed.

DTU 10-MW Reference Wind Turbine

The model is based on the virtual DTU 10-MW reference wind turbine designed as part of the Light Rotor project which is a collaboration between the Wind Energy Department at the Technical University of Denmark and Vestas.

NREL 5-MW Reference Wind Turbine

The model is based on the fictive 5-MW reference wind turbine described by NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory).

Offshore Code Comparison Collaborative (OC3)

The models are based on the fictive 5-MW reference wind turbine with configurations of four different offshore support substructures. The models are based on an updated version of HAWC2 and are therefore not identical to the actual models used in OC3.
